Around the town, there are many excellent opportunities for sport and leisure activities to keep the family fully entertained - a local leisure centre with first rate sport and swimming facilities, local reservoirs and lakes provide plenty of excellent fishing and for the golf enthusiast there are 10 courses within an eight mile radius - so bring the clubs!

The town also offers many interesting walks and places to visit, or you could take a short drive along the dramatic Antrim Coast to visit the Nine Glens of Antrim - a scenic masterpiece!

Whether you're here for one week or two, you'll find that you simply won't be able to take everything in, you'll just have to return! We'd be delighted to see you again!

Carrickfergus Castle is the finest and best preserved 12th century Norman Castle in Ireland.
A must for anyone visiting this part of Northern Ireland!

The hisoric town of Carrickfergus is the second oldest sea-port in Ireland and consequently boasts a long sea-faring tradition.

St. Nicholas' Church, built in the late 12th century, is one of the oldest churches in Ulster and houses many ancient relics.

Andrew Jackson was the first American-born President of the United States of America. His parents left Carrickfergus in 1765 to start a new life in the Carolinas.

In 1815, Major General Andrew Jackson ('Old Hickory') led the American forces that defeated the British at the Battle of New Orleans. He became the seventh President of the United States.

You can visit the Andrew Jackson Centre on the site of the family homestead just one mile to the east of Carrickfergus.

Within the old town walls is the Knight Ride Centre with a monorail that takes 'time travellers', (adults and children alike!), through the town's eventful history.
